Some of you may have seen the posts I've been posting of pictures of the hot wheels and matchbox cars of my youth. These cars were basically put in a box in the attic when I outgrew them. At 14 I almost sold them at a garage sale my family was having (along with all my He-Man action figures and Castle Skeletor), but my mom stopped me. Thanks Mom! I love you!

I didn't retrieve them until my son was born in 2007. Since then I've bought a lot of hot wheels "for him" (no one buys that, but its still my story) and we've had fun playing with both the new ones and the old ones. Anyway, there are some from the old collection that aren't Hot Wheels, Matchbox, or Tomica that are just odd balls. Here is one I found made in France!

Kinja'd!!!

No other information, and it is a little bigger than a standard Hot Wheel. When you compress the car the hood and doors pop open. Neat. Then I noticed something on the door:

Kinja'd!!!

It's a Peugeot!

Shown with my Hot Wheels Peugeot 405 (1990) for scale.

Thanks to everyone who has been rec-ing and commenting on (and even just looking at) my posts. Opponauts are awesome! I have a cool one for tomorrow, here's a sneak preview:

Yup, it's a Peugeot 205, made by Majorette. Majorette is a french company, but I don't think they still make their cars in France, at least not the ones that were available in Brazil back in 2006 and 2007, those were all made in China, if I remember correctly.

They didn't survive long around here though, thanks to the quaity, or lack thereof, of their cars when compared to Hot Wheels and Matchbox vehicles, but I saw a few brand new ones in Uruguay recently, and they really upped their game since they left Brazil.

Thanks for the info. It's always interesting when I find a car not made in Malaysia or China. Yeah, the quality on this one is weak, but it has survived! Plus I now realize have a model of a Peugeot 205 TURBO(oom!)

Curiously enough, Hot Wheels also had several models produced in France, and those command quite a premium nowadays, specially the aqua Classic Rolls.

I'm pretty sure this is the only French model I have. I have one made in England somewhere, but I'm pretty sure there are no Rollers in my collection. Besides, I don't care about how much they're worth. It's sappy, but the joy you get playing with your child is way more than it would be worth to sell. I hope he plays with them with HIS son someday. Maybe I'll even still be around too. :)

Majorettes are amazing! During christmas at my parents' house I looked through all the little cars from my youth and found several majorettes. Best thing about them is the suspension; they are very springy! Best ones i found were a pink fiat 127 with a dog sticking his head out the window, and an abarth autobianchi A112. Nice peugeot!

Haha, neither do I, to be honest. I fully agree to everything you said, by the way, and even though it feels pretty cool to own something rare and valuable, it's not as cool as the car itself. I have one of those Rolls Royces I mentioned above, it's open, it's played with and I don't plan on selling it anytime soon because, to me at least, collecting diecast isn't about future investments, but about what the miniatures represent, that is, the great cars of past and present, both racing and "civilian", as well as the genial men that designed and built them and the brave men who took them to the limit. It's in order to preserve those memories that I collect and try to share the hobby in any way I can! :)

Thanks! Those are some cool cars, I'd definitely like to see pics. Being a hot hatch fanatic (like all proper OPPOs) I was very surprised to realize I owned a 205 Turbo this whole time...

I put some pics in the post I wrote below, but not an up close one of the 127, unfortunately.

FWIR, you inserted a cap in the car. under the hood, where there seems to be some kind of spring and when you ran the car into a wall or obstacle it'd explode with both the doors and hood opening.

to be verified, but I believe that's what the turboOM line was about.

With today's nanny-state mentality who knows, but really, those things were loud but quite harmless.

They were plastic with some kind of powder-like material inside... I'll check the ebays and let ya know if I find something
